I'll be there as well and I am taking my cousin, this is her first time seeing Melissa! Kind of decided to go in the last 3 or 4 days so i wasn't able to get fan-club tickets, but I'm sure no matter where she sits, she won't be disappointed, as most of you know, in the venues that melissa plays in, there's usually never a horrible seat ( although i do prefer to be at the stage!!!!) Can't wait, probably won't sleep tonight, adrenaline is allready flowin!! If i do sleep, i'll be dreamin of Philip! I love him!!!

Random notes

I made a sign asking for Testify or Alive, she saw it,read it and said they havn't played or praticed? (it was hard to hear) yet.
I made a sign that said THANK YOU SO MUCH SEE YOU IN OTTAWA, and she looked at me and said "See you."
Melissa said during INTWU how she won an oscar, and I yelled out "You deserved it." she smiled back.
Someone beside me had a sign that was requesting Must Be Crazy For me the VT show.
The girl in the wheelchair from the last tour was there and rocked out.
We were allowed to rush the stage right from the start.
Someone gave her a handmade flower made out of paper. (Nothing fancy)

Ok so the review (BTW SOMEONE TAPED LIKE 6? SONGS, AND I HOPE SHE SHARES) They really didn't seem to care. I was going to tape, but when I saw others doing it I was like meh I am texting so I can't do both.

Ok I worked 10-2:30 and then caught the 3:10 train out of Ottawa, and headed to Montreal. I ate some pasta at one of the train station restaurants, and then headed down to the venue. Scalpers were there and Giant thought about trading in her tickets for 1 seat 2 rows closer. She decided not to, and we chatted. Then Eagle and Golfergrl came and we chatted. I had 5th row seats, but I ended up rushing the stage from the start. It was so great. She messed uo during the second verse of SF and laughed it off,She debuted When You Find The One and it was HOT. Before ITOO she did that PLEASE BABY PLEASE bit. (Is that song/cover or just an improv?) Because of her still having a bit of a cold she did LTWID instead of POMH and didn't play Skin Deep/Secret Agent. I hope I get those two at one of my next 3 shows. I good show but I have to see I am not into 2001. It is too slowed down and not as rocking as it is on the album. Also I was thinking when will A Simple Love and Map Of The Stars come out,and where has God Is In The People gone? I got pictures, setlist and phillips green pic. Bring on Ottawa :)

I have been away way too long, it was nice to get back to a show. The crowd was wonderful, big crowd too. I will let someone else post the set list as I didn't write it all down, but it was my first time to hear 2001, Ruins and The Angels live. When the lights went down, four of us were standing on the side and made our way down to the stage and stayed there for the show, I ended up 3 people down from Melissa. A woman in a red coat came down and backed us up 2 inches during the second song, but as soon as she passed, we assumed our original positions. I didn't see a single security person there. The energy of the show was great, I think one of the best. Show started around 8:05 and ended around 10:50. It was the first time I have seen Melissa mess up the lyrics a bit (just twice), said she was still getting over her cold so she was a bit gravely in a couple of spots. The guitar tech came out with the lyric book on a stool for When You Find The One (said she hadn't sung it in a while), she glanced at the lyrics and then the guy came out and took the stool away. It was funny, one of those you had to be there moments. I'm going to rank this one up there with one of my favorites.

It was very nice to meet Adam_Eve and Sevenwonders (Jared and Matt), and Eagle Feather and Golfie.

We'll do it again tonight, driving to Ottawa shortly.... :clapping: '''

A couple of pictures you might enjoy.

Glad I decided not to trade my tickets, I didn't need to. I gotta disagree with you Adam_Eve on 2001. I love, love that song. It had kind of a bluesy feel to it.

Bring on Ottawa...I'll second that.

The show was great. I will say that Toronto 06 is still my fav concert of hers that I have seen. I was surprised that there was little to no security compared to Mtl 06 where they were all over you like a dirty sweater. I thought 2001 was different in the way she played it but I am still undecided as to whether or not I liked it. I will say that I am not fussy on the half songs that she is doing. because eve though she may be singing 20+ songs a night if you took away the songs she only sings parts of it really isn't that many. I am still hoping for "The Boy Feels Strange". It is my fav song of hers and I can't recall when she last played it in concert. Bring on the rest of the Canada shows I can't wait !!! :clapping:

here's a review from Le Journal de Montreal

Melissa Etheridge
Du rock puissant et vibrant
Bruno Lapointe
Le Journal de Montréal
22-07-2008 | 10h51

De I Want to Come Over à I'm the Only One, en passant par les incontournables Bring Me Some Water et California, aucun succès ne semble être oublié.

Hi Everyone
to tell you the truth, I don't write often on this forum; I'm a great fan of Melissa I discover some years ago (I'm french from Paris); it was my 2nd concert in Montreal last monday, 5th row and in front of the stage; I really ENJOY the show, the best rock concert I've ever seen, she's a rock star !!!! THE rock star !
I'd love to go to all the concerts (!) but nobody around me loves Melissa enough to go with me
I've shot more than 500 photos.... I want to share some of them with you, here is the link on google photo :

Hey there, just popping in to say hello. I am almost afraid to talk of my experiences so far, but let me just say Canada has been wonderful!! I might make this a tour tradition! Ottawa was just as good as Montreal, I even got a little spit on me...will explain later. One more tonight on this leg (getting ready now  ), then touring Quebec tomorrow, back home on Friday.

Hello Eagle,

Here's my attempt at translating the article... far from perfect, but hoping it will give you a good idea of what was said.

==========
SOME POWERFUL AND VIBRANT ROCK

Melissa Etheridge rocked Place des Arts last night. Generous, the icon of female rock gave her over-excited fans a nearly three hour long comprehensive overview of her career.

8:00 pm last night, lights go out in the Wilfrid-Pelletier concert hall. Immediately, fans are on their feet. Shouts, deafening whistles and a thunder of applause. And the rocker has yet to appear on stage.

When she finally emerges from the shadows, it is madness.

«Bonsoir, Montréal !» the singer shouts, smiling. This is it, you can feel that the ceiling is about to rise. All this taking place during the first few notes of “All There is”.

And then, it’s hit after hit. Melissa Etheridge delivers a comprehensive overview of her impressive carreer. From “I Want to Come Over” to “I'm the Only One”, including the inevitable “Bring Me Some Water” and “California”, none of her hits are forgotten.

From Kansas to Hollywood

In a well tied sequence, each song is conscientiously introduced by the rocker. With the help of her songs, she recreates her journey, her own history, which led her from her native Kansas to Hollywood, driven by her thirst for success.

Impossible to talk about Melissa Etheridge without highlighting her remarkable and contagious energy. A fighter, she recently overcame breast cancer, thus becoming a model for many women.

To satisfy her fans, the rocker gives all of herself, body and soul. And they pay her back well. Standing during the entire concert, they greet each song with shouts of admiration, dancing without restraint on rock and roll rhythms, transforming themselves into an improvised choir during each of the singer’s hits.

Crammed in the Wilfrid-Pelletier Hall, her fans, mostly women, are of all ages. Openly gay, Melissa Etheridge has become a sort of legend in the international gay milieu.

But her language is universal. The kind of rock that Melissa Etheridge delivers is undoubtedly strong, vibrant and involving. In short, it’s as sweet as candy. So good, you find yourself asking for more. Even after three hours.

Nath, thanks ever so much to share the pics with us, it's really nice to see her closer than where I was on monday eve.
I'ts always exciting to be there and share few hours with her, I saw her back in 2002 in the same theater, live and alone... amazing too... well she is full of energy and she is rocking us for so many years now... I am french too and I know it's difficult to be a fan in Europe as you need to get her albums through american websites most of the times and to see her in concert?.. well.. they would be luckier to come over here to see her lol
We are lucky to be able to see her here, down our front step and only a few of us can share that intimate moment with her...

Re: July 21/08 Montreal Reviews and Discussion

Hello Everyone!
I will post review in a few days...
I need to recuperate from the road trip and the fun filled few days!
Meeting Melissa before the show was very cool!
Montreal and Ottawa although very different were both sensational!
More in a few days but here is a link to my blog for some pictures!

http://willowspiral.blogspot.com/

Love and light!
p.s. Someone gave me there email adress after the Montreal show for me to send you pictures...
I lost the paper...You kow who you are...just send me an email or a reply to this and I will follow through.

Genevieve (with the green neon signs and her father in Montreal!)
May my ego that resonates in the deep cavernous swells
transcend to compassionate breaths
that heal the world

including my own

I was in the 9th row, right in front of her. I couldn’t see anybody sitting from where I was. But people did sit down with An Unexpected Rain. They stood up afterwards.

That was my first MLE show. I can’t share my experience with words, but my partner took some pics (not as good as Nathalie’s though – merci pour partager, moi aussi j’en veux une pour mon écran!) and taped some passages, including the one about the hair (LOL) and her missing the lyrics of SF. Also Message to myself (you can hear the crowd clapping) and Come to my window (you can hear it singing). I’m sorry about their quality, I didn’t know she was taping and kept jumping screaming crying talking right beside her. Most of the time you can see Fritz on the right. He’s breathtaking, so full of energy. I think he had like 2 or 3 seconds of break during the whole show!

pics & small videos (some of them seem to be of her aura ;) ):

videos (I’m deleting them two weeks from now):

Anyway, why is that Come to my window comes AFTER Message to myself? I don’t get it. It makes so much sense the other way...
Skin is the album I like the less but still I’d love to hear some songs from it... I can call it “Skip” after this set list. 

What if we could vote for setlists in the next tour? Any setlist that wins, she’d always have stories to link them...

You can tell by the way Mark moves he’s not kidding when he says he loves The Awakening. I think he was actually singing! :D

Hey, stella88, if you think it’s difficult to be her fan in Europe, try it in South America! We can’t always choose the ones we love, though... :) Thanks the universe we could see her!

Nathalie, I have to agree with Elaine. Being alone shouldn’t matter. There were times I felt a part of something bigger. I was part of the crowd. I was not myself anymore, just vibrations... Oh, it felt good.

Hi Everyone
I'm glad to share those pics with you, guys; Use them as you want ! just because you're MLE fans, I know they will be well used !
I've met Philip and Mark, after the show, behind the Place des Arts, at the Opera Entrance; they were so kind and "available" (disponible ...); Melissa got out 30 minutes ago, she said "hi" to everyone, kissed the girl in her chair and step into the bus; she seem so tired, after 3 hours of such a show, we just can understand....

:surprised:
