Atlantic City House of Blues 7-17-10

OMG what can I say but another incredible show by Melissa. This was my 3rd and final showing seeing Melissa this tour and it started with NYC, then surprisingly New Brunswick thanks to Buggie then a planned Atlantic City just not at Casears but just as well b/c of the lack of ac. The House of Blues started out all nice and chilly but by the end of the night it was smokin hot and sweaty the way only Melissa can do.

How I dont have the correct order of the setlist but will do my best just to toss it out there then someone(hugs) with the correct order and if I miss any songs can fix it. My god were some special songs done tonite.

Those were All American Girl, Brave & Crazy, Refugee and (YES) POMH as the encore instead of Gently We Row

Actually while I was talking with hugs throughout these few days I said she probably will change it up soon and it could be POMH she adds in also thinking shed still do GWR but she didnt tonite but just as well, the climate in the room after POMH was incredible. It was from ITOO, BMSW, LTWID then POMH....you figure out what it was like once all those were over :twitchshocked:  I know I need a shower for sure all all that. The show started a bit late b/c of many problems with fans who had TM tickets and the change of the venue but I spoke to a friend who is from Staten Island who had to go to the call window even though they had their tm tickets with them b/c of the change of venues so the lines were extra long for those fans but it worked out b/c the show started a bit later to accommodate all those fans getting in the room. The fanclub had an easier time and some time after 9pm the show did start. Id say about 15 after.

The usual first songs and coming through the audience which was totally awesome as shes done that every nite I believe since starting in Albany. Lots of fans being pleased to touch her hand. Then We Are the Ones into Fearless Love. I think then came AAG and If you Wanted to. Other songs not in any particula order that were not mentioned were, CTMW, I Run For Life, Drag Me Away, The Wanting of You, Indiana which was freaking amazing and was every show I saw. What a rock anthem she has made this song. Company of course and more but just cant think of them all as the setlist does follow a format but she deviated from that tonite, No requests were done and the set list was followed as I saw a girl walk through the casino with it and saw that Refugee, B & C and encore POMH were on it Im sure soon the entire list will appear here.

Pleased to say just like NYC and Brunswick I have all the audio files and they are gonna rock BIG TIME>

I only got 6.5 videos from the first 7 songs. Lets just say I had a problem and had to stop taping :D but the audio stayed on to continue getting it all. Brunswick and AC I will be working on this week so check the board on that mp3 thread or in Etheridge@yahoogroups for the like of the 20-21 files or more of the shows.

As usual MLE was totally and fire and as so many have said through out this tour, it is like no other!! I wish I could see more but that is my fill for this tour.
Shout out to Buggie to enjoy the shows she will be able to attend knowing she will be in better health. Thanks for the help in securing your tickets for us and other person here in AC Glad I could help do that :D You will have to tell us how PA is and MD after you attend those shows and are rested to do so. Dont get too rested b/c i know you will be on your feet dancing like hell.

After being up 2 day straight, dont ask its time to get some shut eye here in AC. :D After 3 mle shows in one week and my fill of the Black Jack table(IM smiling so that worked out okay :D ) its time for a bit of sleep!

AC tottally rocked!! Thought I died and went to heaven when at the "I feel you, you feel me" part of "We are the ones" Melissa held my hand from the stage as she sang...OMG! Also during "Nervous", when Melissa is noodling on the guitar somebody yelled..."You're a tease"...Melissa grinned, agreed and said "and I am going to tease you all night long, its my job!"...Great Show....way to much fun!!!!!

Good morning, MLE, heard you had a great show in AC last night! Do you think you could do the "Let's Get it On" thing again tomorrow in Lancaster?? BTW, I'll be the cute girl in 2nd row with the sign asking for you to play "Enough of Me"...

yes, please.

let's get it on ~ in lancaster tomorrow night :)
please for the sick girl whose missed THREE shows...and for deardeergirl, too?

ohh man. she sang "let's get it on" at the very first concert of hers i ever attended ~ december 4, 1994 and i believe that is when she stole much of my heart...the rest she took later in the same show when she sat on the side of the stage and sang "you used to love to dance" just her and that ovation...

and i was in the last row noseblees seats!!!

I LOVE when she does that song, buggie, it is HOT-- I play it on my Zune all the time-- I think the version I have is from a Chicago show in like ??94?? We missed the AC show because my world's best kitty :cat: is sick...she is doing ok right now (hoping she stays that way!!), and is letting her mom sneak away just overnight...glad to hear you are on the mend, too...MLE would make both our days tomorrow with that! :peace: Love "Dance", too, and my all time fave, "Sleep while I Drive"...but Melissa had me in '89 with "Testify"!! Been a while since I heard that live...

OMG are you freaking serious!! That is what I couldnt remember and you will hear it on the audio once I put it all up but during POMH she did a snipped of Lets Get it on during that song! It was freakin amazing so maybe she DID read your post even if it was a snippet. I suggest you hold up a sign asking saying a full Lets Get it on....even though you did it in AC during LTWID :D It was freaking priceless. Here is the entire set list I got off twitter(thanks hugs)

WATO, FL, MC, IIWT, AAG, C, IWTCO, WOY, R, CTMW, BAC, I, RFL, DMA, N, ITOO, BMSW, LTWID, Encore: POMH

Even I am having a bit of trouble at times deciphering the initials :D so figure it out guys :D

One amazing amazing show!! I rate :D #1 of the 3 shows I saw!! Room rocked and MLE fans were on their feet and a the stage the entire nite. I think security tried in the beg to get some back but once she got on stage through the crowd that was it. Girl next to me Sue and partner Linda...told her partner to get out near the aisle to get her hand and she did!!!

OMG... Melissa ROCKED last night! First concert I've been to in a couple of years, and all I can say is that she just seems to improve with age! Of course, I burst into tears when she walked on the stage. Am I the only one that gets incredibly emotional and moved by her?! Here is probably the best pic of the ones I did manage to get...

Great concert and Melissa looked great and sounded like she's got her rock star energy back.
Lots of little comments about speaking not only freely but truly with a little smirk on her face.
Made my day when she did POMH. :winner:

HOB screwed over a lot of people who bought their tickets from stub hub or independent brokers. They took all the Caesars tickets and put them in individual envelopes with the purchasers last name on them. If you didn't know the broker's last name, they just said. 'sorry nothing we can do.' it was a huge mess before the show. Security got called a few times. Luckily I had our broker's number and he texted me the name(since no one could hear anything at the ticket box) and we got our 'comparable' seats. We had had floor seats 7 rows back and ended up with balcony a few rows back, but I have to say, once the very drunk large lady who wouldn't sit down and was waving from side to side, left to sneak to the stage, they were awesome seats. If you just wanted to watch the show and sit in comfortable seats with cushions(lol) and party with a bunch of other Melissa fans, the balcony's not so bad. (the mgr said our new seats were worth more in value then the Caesar ones, who knows.) We waited last minute to get tickets (the morning of the show) so all in all can't complain and had a great night thanks to MLE.

Nice meeting you NYbabe. ;)

While I enjoyed the show, I must say how much I HATE Atlantic City shows. Can someone please explain to me why you would spend so much money to go hear someone perform and then get so drunk that you can't possibly enjoy it? Either I am getting old or my tolerence is very low, but I am really tired of the idiots that to seem to come out at the AC shows EVERY YEAR!!! Between the group of 6 women to my left who were talking during the whole show and just got louder and louder with each drink, the drunk girl behind me who kept "petting my hair" like I was a dog so much so that she almost got my high heel right through her foot, the other person behind us who decided that the only way she could get closer to MLE was to press her entire body against us and grind into us, not to mention those who actually used Tracy's head to stabilize her camera so she could get a picture without asking after just shoving her arm and said camera right in front of our face several times blocking our view. Oh and did I forget to mention the person who was passing gas????? About 6 times?!!!! Were they trying to kill us so they could move up towards the stage?? And lets not forget the couple having sex next to my friends in the 4th row - yes you heard me, really going at it the whole night.

I have been fortunate to be at the stage many times over the years and sometimes it gets very close and you become good friends very fast with people, but usually everyone respects everyone and tries to enjoy the show without disturbing the experience for someone else. Please, excuse me and I'm sorry go a long way people. I only ever have this experience at Atlantic City shows - I think I may have just been to my last one.

Other than that I had a great weekend - spent the day at the beach, won some money at my favorite slot machine, hung out with friends and had a great car ride back and forth (thanks N & D)!! Enjoy the rest of the tour everyone - and please try and be respectful.

wow kris ~ this is the first thing i have read that makes me VERY VERY HAPPY i did not waste my time and money driving out to the AC show & getting a hotel room just for that foolishness. such a shame, cuz most concerts arent anything remotely like that!

OMG I so agree with you. I said before, we had a very drunk woman flayling about right in front of us a little to the side. The poor woman behind her was so upset she couldn't see anything. As soon as she left, like the second song everyone looked around at each other so happy. She was a major distraction and oblivious to anyone else around her. The man and his wife next to me asked where do you think she went?, I said, oh I'm sure to share her charm as close as she can get to the stage. lmao
In the 'reserved boxes' there was a group of woman who looked like they were taking turns being upset with each other or grinding on each other, the more they drank the more they seemed to hurt each others feelings. It's funny because everyone sitting around me was sipping on 'a' drink, and we all had a blast. When I was 21 or 22 we all loved to drink and drink and drink anytime anywhere, but as an 'adult' now, I pick and choose when getting 'wrecked' is appropriate. Not so much in a public arena anymore, I find mine and everyone else's experience is much better when we don't act like we just got the right to drink legally.

lol at the heel through the foot LB. Narcissism at it's finest eh?

LOL, but the music rocked...

I have to say, in my younger years...man a melissa show was tailgaiting all day, dancing in the aisle, singing....(hope I didnt annoy any of you personally...lol) but, to use someone's head as a 'perch' and to talk thru the whole show......my patience wouldnt have been able to stand that, I am sure I would have told them to 'shut the f*ck up' and 'get your hands and skanky body off of me, before I pop ya one'......

Hope I dont have to do so tonight, but I will if necessary :peace:

Between the group of 6 women to my left who were talking during the whole show and just got louder and louder with each drink, the drunk girl behind me who kept "petting my hair" like I was a dog so much so that she almost got my high heel right through her foot, the other person behind us who decided that the only way she could get closer to MLE was to press her entire body against us and grind into us, not to mention those who actually used Tracy's head to stabilize her camera so she could get a picture without asking after just shoving her arm and said camera right in front of our face several times blocking our view. I saw a ton of security lined up at the stage, then they all just disappeared.

Who had the picture that Melissa wouldn't sign?

It was cute when she said, "Instead of me singing, it would turn into signing concert." then she said, "Oh! It's a very large sign of me isn't it?" lol and she said "I'll touch it though." People were cracking up.

ugh that woman was next to me all night...she held that picture up the WHOLE show...and even after Melissa addressed her she still held it up. I wanted to just say put it away and enjoy the show.

The security eventually left the stage but the one guy was next to me for a long time...I apologized to him for having to listen to me sing

LOL, I thought Melissa handled it well. One of the people around me said there was a show a while back that turned into a signing fest and bunch of people got really annoyed that they were waiting forever for her to sing in between songs.

Security was probably wishing he could be enjoying the show instead of getting people out of the aisles. A couple people had camera's that were not allowed and security made them put them away or leave. I guess no high tech stuff allowed. The music was so loud, I'm sure he heard pure Melissa.

Heh, no, not everyone at the stage were jerks, just the people behind and to the left of Kris. You and Bitry were well protected in the inner sanctum of the stage ;)

I think the gassy person was someone behind me...man was that disgusting. Take a gas-ex or something...

I almost popped the girl behind me. I think she blew the finger whistles more than Melissa was singing...and right in my ear. I am not a fan of AC shows either - maybe it would have been different at Caesars... Oh well, Melissa was awesome - as she made some corrections to the show as requested by Bitey. Man that was perfect. Bing Bing! LOL.

Sam, you must have been right near me. My wife and I were right behind that girl. She didn't leave, she was escorted out by security after she tried to throw down with me. :fighting: For a minute, I thought, "OMG, I'm 26 years sober and I'm gonna get in a bar fight!"

I understand that people want to have a drink when they go out, but to get sloppy drunk, (as the woman in front of us did), or to take a spot in the front, only to run in and out the whole night getting refills ... well, that just doesn't make sense to me.
Meet me in the dark.

Kris, I feel your frustration. I didn't attend Saturday night but have been to a couple of AC shows and I completely understand. It's always an adventure up at the stage. Security does disappear very quickly at the HOB. They make a big production about telling people to go back to their seats, but once the lights go down, and you ignore them or give them the infamous stupid look, they go away quietly. That's been my experience anyway.

Melissa said the harmonics softly, but definitely out over the microphone "bing bing" during IIWT. She looked right at you when she did it...it was hysterical. Her smile was so adorable when she did that.

We got in and rushed up to the HoB just after 9:00 only to be turned away and were told that we had to go BACK downstairs and exchange our tickets (we were running late and were just a bit annoyed. But over all I guess they did a good job with the switch. Hard job making everybody happy.

We had Ticketmaster seats that were like 17th row dead center at Caesars. The HoB seats were 3rd row balcony. I usually don't mind balcony but when we finally got in to the show Melissa was just making her way to the stage. We just walked right up to the right of the stage (in front of the bass player) and planted ourselves there. Nobody told us to sit down or move the whole night. Had our elbows on the stage!!!!!

Agree to an extent about AC crowds and 2 things come to mind.

There is a bar RIGHT THERE and it's not the "snack bar" kind of bar, it's the kind of bar that is there to get people drunk. This explains the jabbering and obnoxious behavior from some "fans/non fans"

The other thing is it is Atlantic City and a good portion of the tickets are comped to people who may not have a clue about who Melissa really is and all she's done. They only know Come to My Window and and could give a crap about the hard core fans who want to hear every word and who savor every note.

We try (and it's hard) to shut it out and zone in on our own experience

Overall we had a great time and are sad today that we won't see her again until next year.

Indiana is "EPIC" and I hope she never stops playing that one
