I had a great time at the Sweat Tent in Cape Cod. Thankfully Melissa cooled me off by pouring water from her bottle onto my head !!!. I got a drumstick from Blair and half torn copy of the setlist. Pics and video (Quality TBD) will be uploaded sometime tomorrow. It was soo hot. The other problem I had was that because the stage rotated slowly at times when I was filming I got shots way up high or shots of stage equipment. My camera battery died so I am charging it right now and will upload what I have. I had a sign requesting Royal Station 4/16 and when she saw the sign she was like "not tonight" maybe tomorrow. Then she sawe my face and said "Oh it's you" you are from Montreal , Quebec around there so I yelled out no Ottawa and then she laughed and said something along the lines of "Well they are all so close together" She only had a tye died t shirt on from what I could tell. There was a funny part when somone threw a bra (I think) onto the stage and then the band members had fun tossing it at each other seeing where it would land. A woman showed up outside trying to get someone to sell her two tickets for her kids for 25.00. "I am not paying more then 25.00" is what she said and then she said "I will wait and soemone will give them for 25.00" She didn't seem to care if she had to buy two single tickets she just wanted two tickets for 25.00

Bring on Boston !!!

Cape Cod Times: Melissa Etheridge returns to rock roots

i'm guessing the reviewer got Dan and Kristopher's names wrong, but perhaps someone who attended tonight's show can confirm?

Melissa Etheridge returns to rock roots

By Gwenn Friss
gfriss@capecodonline.com

July 09, 2010 - 2:00 AM

HYANNIS – A soldout Melody Tent crowd was washed in the river Etheridge Friday night as Miss Melissa put on a concert that was exhilarating and, occasionally, dehydrating.

It was hot in every sense of the word: the free sauna courtesy of Mother Nature; the wail of dueling guitars; the new rock star musicians and, most of all, the pure – at points, unearthly – Etheridge whose voice and guitar-playing seem to emanate from her as naturally as breathing.

This was the second stop on the North American tour for Etheridge's new “Fearless Love” album, and this concert could not have been more different from the acoustic show she brought to Hyannis a year ago. Although she included several of her classics, such as “I Run For Life,” “Come to My Window” and “I'm the Only One,” the return-to-rock “Fearless Love” is fueled by driving instrumentals that accompany Etheridge's filled-with-longing lyrics.

While many of her songs before this were filled with sexual politics, these are filled with sex. “Nervous,” from the new album, is the musical equivalent of grabbing someone by the lapel and dragging them toward you as you run a fingernail down a shirt front. (Yes, that's “You Give Me Fever” coming up on the bass; there's a brief interlude of that 50s song.

Etheridge, going through a split with longtime partner actress Tammy Lynn Michaels, didn't let her troubles show on stage. Her performance – including back-to-back guitar playing and caressing the microphone – had that mix of vulnerability and raw edge that Janis Joplin brought.

This rock queen side of Etheridge is supported admirably by her touring band: bassist Sean Hurley, guitarist Peter Thorn, drummer Blair Sinta and keyboardist Chris Fowke. Accomplished musicians all, they do a great job of keeping up with Etheridge's playfulness boundless energy. She stepped on stage at 8 p.m. sharp (no opening act or intermission here) and played without a break until 10:30 when Melody Tent shows end. She also thanked the adoring audience for spending money on tickets in these tough economic times.

And this concert shows it is possible to balance a sound mixing board so that, even in the round tent with its revolving stage, you get the right mix of instrumentals and vocals without blasting the audience. The band never drowned out Etheridge, and she was clearly the focal point although she looked like she was having a blast playing licks that started out separately and converged with the other guitars.

Although Friday's concert was more sultry – the performance and the weather – than last year's, one constant is the joy that Etheridge puts out. Maybe you can't buy happiness, but at a Melissa Etheridge concert, you can rent it.

This was a great show,Drag Me Away, the highlight for me,but the security SUCKED!! It was actually one guy in particular. He wrecked the whole atmosphere of the pit I thought.Even when Melissa encouraged participation the crowd was hesitant because<i believe, security issues.I talked to some of the other security people, they actually approached my girlfriend and I and commented that this guy is always like this!!That guy sucked! We almost got kicked out!! YIKES!!!

I saw the boys in the band run out with the crazy fan they were using on her. Missed her coming on stage.
Favorite songs live that night...
Only Love
Nervous
Miss California
Fearless Love
Indiana (she made me cry here she was so AWESOME)
Like The Way I Do
Bring Me Some Water (Always and Forever My Favorite All Time Song)
Drag Me Away (***my late-wife may have co-wrote this)

After leaving the venue we drove in circles until we came back to the parking lot of the Tent. I said "Oh bummer the bus is gone"! When Pam the driver points it out right up in front of us. It runs on vegetable oil and is the coolest looking thing. She actually did follow it out of town for me as I yelled some woo hoo's! and I LOVE YOU's!

Thank You for another (My 24th) Etheric live show.
See you @ Hampton Beach :wheee!:

Hi,
I am new to the forum but I wanted to say that this was my first ever Melissa Etheridge concert, and I thought it was amazing. I have wanted to see her for a very long time but she never seemed to be where I was. I must admit I liked the part where she dumped water on the fans in the front and then someone tried to throw some back on her. I really enjopyed the show and if she comes back I would without a doubt go again.

This was a great show but I don't know if I would go back to that venue as it was way too hot and I thought I might pass out. It certainly does give you a great view no matter where you sit.
