Hi Danielle, Hi Julia..............thanks for your replies guys!!

Danielle, I live in a village near Okehampton..............so just round the corner really

Julia, yep, so far I'm goin' on my own..............whats even worse is that I've got a 'spare' but rather expensive ticket, as my friend who was going now can't make it due to work committments :(

........oh, where are you from Julia?

I may well put ticket on Ebay in a few days unless someone else wants it in the meantime..........it's for Level 1

Cheers
Vee :)

Full HD version of Heaven on Earth coming up when my Guru talks me through uploading to You Tube ( & I get some sleep - the Euro Tour Post Gig Parties tend to go on *way* into the next day ) - as a lot were going on to Berlin tonight we just decided to pull an "All Nighter" - it was all Sandy's fault, put a Merlot in that woman's hand & you unleash an animal

WOW WOW WOW!!!

Great to see Melissa in the UK again, particularly to see her having such a great time with us and her new band. Loved the adhoc moments of unplanned drum solo in Brave and Crazy, coping twice with broken strings (was it anyone here that got one as a present?) and the double handed guitar playing round the back of the lead man.

Often whenever any artists moves from old to new material during a gig something is lost along the way but it all just fitted together beautifully, thanks Melissa!!

The BMSW youtube captures the :birthday: moment perfectly!!

Here's hoping Melissa's suggestion of a return to London sooner rather than later comes true - and my 20 year old Brave and Crazy T-shirt can have another outing.
I hear the train sigh

I am so glad she was always so surprised by my confettis, in Amsterdam, London, even today in Berlin!
OK, first was the rose in NY :rose: then the confettis in all 3 concerts :wheee!: and for the autumn tour I definitely have to come up with something else, surprising and nice... ;)

Angie, my friend, I am going back home tomorrow, I will e-mail you
Lea, the video will be yours but from Berlin, if you don't mind. I had my banner "Don't you know that you are golden?" and you will see the amazing impact. You'll love it :D

Stella

You are a gem and can't wait to see that. Loved the confetti and her expressions after it flew11 :D

Yes of course we all know it was YOUR Rose that Hugs held up for Melissa and if you didn't read my other post in the Grammy Artist Revealed, when Hugs and I met Melissa I brought up the NYC show to have her remember the Rose that Linda held up to her and how she grabbed it in her mouth. She said that was the only time she ever did that!! Not enough time to say who gave her the rose but maybe another time you can be present to know where it came from :D

I am loving what you put on the banner!!!! If I had to pick one song from the FL album that I'd want her to play for us in Chicago - it would be " Heaven on Earth" - I really love it! I can't wait to see the video footage of that!

And... I will be looking forward to your email - with all the details of your trip!

The Times liked her:

http://www.thetimes.co.uk/tto/arts/music/livereviews/article2581076.ece (you might have to register to see the page).

Melissa Etheridge at the Empire, W12
David Sinclair
4 out of 5 stars

As the star from Los Angeles opened her first full show here for “much too long”, you could feel (and hear) the love radiating towards her from the mainly female audience

Although Melissa Etheridge is said to have sold 27 million albums since the release of her debut in 1988, not many of them have been sold in this country, where she retains a minority appeal. But what an appeal. As the 49-year-old star from Los Angeles opened her first full show here for “much too long”, you could feel (and hear) the love radiating towards her from the mainly female audience.

Dressed for work, in a pale blue denim shirt, black trousers and boots, she began with the title track of her new album Fearless Love, a song that laid her cards on the table in a typically forthright manner. Acknowledgement of her sexual orientation and needs has been at the heart of Etheridge’s work and life story. And given that her songs are such strong, personal narratives it is hard to see how it could have been any other way. Drag Me Away, a number from the new album, was a defiant reflection on her battle with breast cancer, which was diagnosed in 2004. “It’s gonna take more than that to get rid of me,” she sang in her strong, throaty, rock-chick voice. And while she made no specific reference to the estrangement earlier this year from the actress Tammy Michaels, her civil partner of nine years, she introduced another new song, To Be Loved, with a rather sad monologue in which she admitted that she had “not done so well” in her lifelong pursuit of love.

Although the show was steeped in the kind of emotional resonances you might expect from a quiet, confessional, singer-songwriterly type of performer, musically it had the feel-good, arena-rock texture of a John Mellencamp or Bryan Adams gig. Etheridge was accompanied by a neat, four-man rock band, including a new guitarist, Peter Thorn, whose passing resemblance to the young Jeff Beck was matched by a similarly virtuoso technique. She was fully engaged with both band and audience as she sang and played for almost two and a half hours without looking for a moment as if she was in any danger of running out of steam, let alone songs. There were many variations on the theme of longing and lust — If I Wanted To, I Want to Come Over, The Wanting of You — and by the time she reached the finale of Bring Me Some Water and Like the Way I Do, there had been a lot of passion shared in the Empire. But the encore of Gently We Row was a contrastingly gentle and touching song of spiritual guidance directed towards her daughter.
If you can't be a shining example, be a horrible warning...

Yes there are video and photos of the Rose incident!! Don't think I can extract just that part from the video but a photo exists that shows her hand placing the Rose in her mouth during her instrumental of LTWID....then a few minutes later she spits it out into the audience. Im sure a fan still has the rose in whatever form it is in now

Thanks to a lot of folks this is in the memory books for Hugs and for Melissa as we know. Stella brought the rose, handed it to Linda and Darlene took an amazing photo. I put the photo on a shirt that I can show here once I dig it up. Id have to search to see if a youtube video exists of that event and think there is one from another angle. A friend of mine got a close up of it and I had to use it to hmmmmm finish off an incomplete video I had ;) The outcome was totally outstanding!! :D

Now I read above from Stella that Melissa remembered the incident when she had a chance to discuss it with her in London :thumbs up: way cool!! :D

I am speechless. Heaven on Earth live is beyond amazing. My favorite song on the album and she blew the album version away. I am one happy camper now thanks for the amazing video :)
