Melissa was in fine form, funny and in great voice. POMH was awesome. I loved "I want to be in love". It has never been one of my favorites, but singing it alone, no band, It was gorgeous. Was that the first time during the tour that the band left the stage so she could sing solo? I don't remember anyone mentioning it before? Just wondering.

Hanging in DC for the day and anxiously waiting for 20 more days til Reading.

Still singing "I run for Life" in my head. 8-)

Just wrote to Charlotte forum re DC concert. But will add before downloading pictures and taking a nap. Don't function well on 5 hours of sleep and we drove 2+ hours up and 2+ hours home. The fans were awesome....having a great time singing and cheering and so forth. Saw nothing obnoxious...just good folks having a fabulous time. And security was very accommodating. We were 9 rows back Fritz side of center and security took me by the arm down closer to the stage so I could get a better picture. How nice is that?

No question in my mind, Melissa is the Greatest ever. Susan B

I loved your video at MEEFST UBAN!!! You wanna know why the most? Ok ... I will tell you my take ... I think that with all the video that is out on the tubes about the show from various fans, well they're lovely and all, but they simply cannot give you THAT feeling. there's a special energy and a feeling from the show, when you showed the pics in silence, i sort of felt that feeling, but of course not full blown. WHA!!!!!

My husband and I saw her in DC in 2006, and we couldn't wait to see her again. She is awsome and the band is unbelievable. What a great show; that incredible voice, the eyes, the smile, and also the stories. Her intro to Bring Me Some Water was great, something like...'some really bad times, but some really good music'. My husband has more recently become the big fan I've long been, and when the show was over he said "when's the next one".

She rocks. Big time.

I think by being a long time fan ... it makes me absolutely beam when folks see Melissa for the first time. I do remember being blown away the first time I saw Melissa years and years ago, but for me the first time is everytime anymore. :D

The most fun EVER.

It was so incredible I just devoted an entire blog post (http://thewishfulwriter.blogspot.com/2008/06/up-side-of-being-down-to-one.html) about our experience.

In a nutshell, Melissa played for three hours.

Three hours. No break.

No over the top stage presentation.

No videos.

Just Melissa, her guitar, her band, and her inspirational take on life and how she's choosing to live it.

Amazing.

Folks

Do I have photos from the DC show. A friend of mine took some incredible shots that night and later I will be posting them on the board. This woman is a great photographer and actually took some great photos at a recent tour and one of them is the photo I use as my avater. Its small so you cant see it very well but others know a larger version on it I used in a creative project ;) Anyway check back later to see these intense and talented photos. Super super clear I might add and just simply amazing! No time now as I head out to work! :D

Can photos (camera, cellphone) be taken at the concerts?

Thanks!

I believe that "technically" there are not supposed to be any cameras at the concerts BUT everyone takes camera phones and point-and-shoot cameras (i.e., small digital cams, non-SLR) and I think as long as you don't have an SLR with a removable lense, no one will stop you from taking pics. At least this is what I understand...others with more concert experience may be able to comment. :D

I LOVE the song "down to one", that whole CD is great and I loved your blog. I started to get choked up reading about your break up. I know if I ever break up with my guy I will need that song, no actually that whole CD to get me through the dark days or months after. Cann't wait until August 3rd to see her live and hopefully sing that song. Is anyone else going to the Detroit show?

As mentioned above, the technical answer seems to be no, but the real answer is yes. At Constitution Hall in DC signs were posted at the door saying 'no cameras allowed at the request of the artist', but I think they just keep the sign up regardless. It may depend on the venue. In DC the security people were great; letting people go down one by one to front stage to take pictures. Melissa certainly didn't mind; when she came out for the encore she took note of all the people in front with digital and cell phone cameras and said she felt she should give a salute (which she did). So yes, go for it.

I wish I was going again on Sunday. Have fun. Tell us all about it.

Thank you :) SKIN is without a doubt, the best tool a person can have when faced with a painful breakup. I got to be sad, pissed off and eventually empowered all within the span of that single CD.

You'll have to let me know how her Aug. 3rd performance was!

You won't be disappointed! This will be only my second time to see her, I saw her last September at her CD release party at the Hard Rock in New York and she was amazing and that was just one CD worth...I am very excited to see her do the whole three-hour show! We'll look forward to your review...be sure to post it on here afterwards! :D

Hey there. I got lots of pics and video from both the DC and Charlotte shows. Anyone interested or have something from the shows they'd like to share. Just PM me. I'm still working on getting 3 roles of pics done, and some longer video uploaded.. so there will be more to come.

BTW, is it totally against MEIN rules to post pics or links to albums on the board ? At one point is was highly frowned upon.

Hi,

My partner and I were at Melissa's DC concert, and as always, we were not disappointed! We were inthe sixth row; Phillip's side, for the concert. I was the one holding up the 'Mercy' sign. I really wanted her to sing this because it holds a special place for my partner and me! This is about the 10th time I've seen Melissa, and I look forward to the next show. Melissa is awesome, and I lover her passion, and devotion to her fans! I was fortunate enough to be chosen to see her Hard Rock Cafe's 'Awaking' performance in September, and it has to be one of the highlights of my life! I'll never forget it, and I'm extremely grateful that MEIN chose me to attend!!!! We decided that no matter what, we are attending a 'Meet and Greet' for her next tour. My partner asked me before the DC concert, how much money I have invested in Melissa's concerts, and I thought about it for a minute.....I then replied, "Whatever money I've spent over the last 20 years has been well worth the costs!" and she just smiled because she knows how much I love Melissa.

Speak True,
Tina

Awesome pics everyone!!

The concert was fantastic, even better than the concert in charlotte the night before. Melissa was awesomely fantastic, and the band was right on cue (as usual.) It was a great rock -n- roll show, as it's supposed to be. And let me tell you!! The encores were absolutely FANTASTIC! The way she paused in "not tonight"..."you know i'd love to sing you just one...more...song..." and the crowd went WILD...RIGHT into Piece of my heart!! Magical!!!

Tina--I saw your mercy sign!

Wasn't it fantastic when she was playing Phillip's electric guitar while standing behind her? LOVED IT.

This was my second concert of hers that I have seen at constitution hall, last one was in '06. Both ROCKED.

Here's to many more awesome MLE concerts!!! Glad everyone enjoyed it!

Hey, Kyle,

I agree, it was cool when Melissa played Phillip's guitar while standing behind him! I was at the DAR Constitution Hall in '06 too. Loved that concert too......I wish I had the money, time, and stamina to travel around the country with Melissa while she's touring, but..... :-) I got the opportunity to see Melissa at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC in September, and when I told one of my teachers that I was going to see her in July, she replied, "Aren't you a little old to be a groupie?' lololol I think ME is awesome, and I'm a huge fan.

I think it's cool that you saw my 'Mercy' sign :-) I told my partner that I was going to "ask" ME to sing it, and she just gave me one of those looks, like, sure, Honey. So, that fact that she sang it made my night complete. A few Christmas ago, I made this CD for my partner, and when I looked at the song selection, I was like WOW, I could write a story to go with this music, and I did. One of the songs was 'MERCY', and I have never heard her sing it at a concert before so it was great. I'm glad you enjoyed the concert; when ME played at the Hard Rock, she said that when she went on tour, it would be a different kind of concert (more stories, sharing her life) and that he long time fans would understand. So, I know some people aren't pleased with her concert this time around, but I think it's refreshing that someone like her is willing to lay it all out there for her fans.

P.S. THANKS to evryone who posts pics--I really appreciate it.
